Artworks on paper
We can usually stop the detoriation and stabilize the paper, to conserve the Artwork for future generations to enjoy. Rips and tears can be mended, and pulp can be added to the voids. Dry cleaning and washing can remove stains and years of abuse. De-acidification will stop the darkening of the paper and preserve it. Durrett Studio uses all recognized archival materials and matting to properly conserve you Artwork. We offer several glass options and backing and matting choices as well.
We can make custom hand painted French style mats to compliment your Artwork. Old hand colored photos can usually be cleaned and touched up to look better, watercolors and prints can be washed and de-acidified to reduce the staining and watermarks.
Please send us several detailed digital photos of your Artwork for a free evaluation and recommendation of repairs. Or better yet, call us to set up an appointment to bring your piece into the shop for evaluation.
All repairs are priced in advance and your satisfaction is guaranteed. We can prepare a detailed condition report with before and after pictures if needed. Please contact us with any questions, or to arrange for a consultation.

Frames
Restoration services focus on period
picture frames as well as gilded surfaces of furniture
and objects. Restoration of these surfaces include structural
repair, replacement of losses, removal of paint over original
gold leaf finishes, cleaning, and re-gilding. With over 40
years of collective experience, our frame conservators take
care to preserve as much of the original finish as possible
and skillfully match restorations to that finish.
All restorations require a viewing and consultation. Fees
are based on an hourly rate and materials required for the
project. Since physical examination of a piece is critical
in determining extent of damage, we reserve the right to adjust
any estimate given from viewing photos or digital images.
We encourage you to contact us for a free evaluation.
